Comparison

Pitchroom vs DocSend: the honest comparison

DocSend defined tracked document sharing, and it remains a polished product. This page compares it with Pitchroom feature by feature, without pretending DocSend is worse than it is.

The short version: if you need document sharing for sales or general business, DocSend is excellent. If the deck link is part of a fundraise, Pitchroom covers the deck and everything around it.

What DocSend does well

Credit where due. DocSend invented this category and the core loop is tight: upload, share a link, see who opened it and how long they spent on each page. Access controls are granular, e-signatures are built in, and being part of Dropbox means enterprise IT teams already trust it.

If your use case is sales proposals, board documents or client contracts, DocSend competitors mostly chase its polish. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

The full raise, not just the deck

Fundraising is a pipeline problem, not a file problem. You research investors, send the deck, track who is warm, run diligence, then keep everyone updated. DocSend covers one step. The rest lives in spreadsheets and a second or third subscription.

Pitchroom puts the whole loop in one place: a 20,000+ investor database with smart matching, a pipeline CRM, deck links with per-slide analytics, data rooms in every plan, and investor updates after you close. The analytics feed the pipeline, so "opened the deck twice yesterday" becomes a follow-up task, not a dashboard trivia fact.

EU hosting and GDPR

DocSend is a US product under US jurisdiction. You can sign a DPA, and many EU companies do, but your investor data and documents are processed in the US, which means standard contractual clauses and a longer conversation with your lawyer.

Pitchroom is built and hosted in the EU, with a DPA and a public sub-processor list. For European founders, GDPR review gets materially shorter when the data never leaves the EU.

Pricing compared

DocSend charges per user: $15/user/mo on Personal, $45 to $65/user/mo on Standard, no free plan. A three-person founding team on Standard pays roughly $135 or more per month.

Pitchroom has a free plan, and the Startup plan is €25/mo flat, €20 billed annually, whatever your team size. Over a six-month raise, the difference funds a decent lawyer hour.

Who should pick which

Pick DocSend if

You want the category standard for document sharing and fundraising is not the main job.

Pick Pitchroom if

The deck link exists because you are raising a round.
